What we are fundraising for
Every ticket sold helps fund BCWA’s vital children’s services, supporting children and young people to recover from the trauma of domestic abuse.
All children deserve a safe and loving childhood.
However, 1 in 5 children witness or are exposed to domestic abuse and around 1 in 20 children in the UK have been sexually abused. That is equivalent to at least one child in every classroom in the country.
We are here to support young survivors who have suffered domestic violence and abuse, rape, and sexual exploitation. From advocating for children through the justice system, to providing specialist counselling, we work hard to keep children and young people safe and support them with their recovery.
We talk to every child and young person in confidence, listening carefully to their story and reassuring them that we believe them. Everyone is treated as an individual to provide the best support. We empower all our young clients, sharing information with them so that they can make their own decisions. We are here to help them through new, sometimes disquieting experiences, including legal processes. We also help with other, practical issues like accessing healthcare, education and training, and applying for a Criminal Injuries Compensation Award.
How you can help
- Your £5 ticket donation could pay for lunch for a child attending an outdoor wellbeing course that supports their recovery from abuse.
- If you come to the concert with someone else, together your £10 gift could pay for a distraction box containing items like a fidget spinners or journal that are especially chosen to support a child’s mental health issues.
- By bringing 7 of your family, friends or colleagues with you to our Community Carol Concert, your £40 gift could pay for an hour’s counselling to help a child affected by domestic abuse.
